Anaheim draws visitors from around the world with its pirates, princesses, mountains, and talking mouse. Best known as the home of Disneyland, the Southern California city is well-located to offer visitors more than just magic.
Disneyland and the newer Disney's California Adventure Park draw huge crowds throughout the year. With rides and entertainment geared to everyone from toddlers to grandparents, Disneyland is a family favorite. Disney's California Adventure Park offers more theme-park thrills, with rides like the California Screamin' roller coaster and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, plus plenty of rides for younger kids.
There's more to Anaheim than just rides, however. Close to the theme parks and the busy Anaheim Convention Center, Downtown Disney District is packed with shops, eateries, music venues, and a movie theater. The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk offer more than 50 stores, restaurants, an upscale bowling alley, and a nightclub.
Anaheim is part of Orange County, so even though the city is landlocked, beaches and activities like surfing, sailing, and kayaking are never far away. Orange County is home to dozens of other attractions too, including Knott's Berry Farm theme park and the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park.
Flights to Anaheim are easy to come by, since there are a number of airports within a short drive of the city. John Wayne Orange County Airport is just 15 miles from Anaheim. Long Beach Airport is about 20 miles from Anaheim, while Los Angeles International (LAX) and Ontario International are closer to 30 miles from the city.
