CDC Changes Travel Warning Levels for 19 Destinations

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) just updated the warning levels for 19 destinations, increasing the advisory levels for some and decreasing the rankings for others.

After Singapore loosened entry restrictions for fully-vaccinated travelers, the CDC moved the destination to Level 4, the highest warning level. Under the CDC’s guidelines, Level 4 countries are considered “very high risk: avoid travel.”

The CDC also changed the warning levels for 18 other destinations, moving some up to a higher warning level and some down to a lower category.

The CDC uses two primary criteria to determine the travel warning levels: the amount of new COVID-19 cases over the past 28 days, and new case trajectory (if daily new cases have increased, decreased, or remained stable.)

Level 4: COVID-19 Very High

Level 3: COVID-19 High

  • Angola
  • Cyprus
  • Djibouti
  • Eswatini
  • Hungary
  • Tunisia

Level 2: COVID-19 Moderate

  • Bangladesh
  • Bolivia
  • Cameroon
  • Ghana
  • Kenya
  • Poland
  • Republic of the Congo

Level 1: COVID-19 Low

  • Bhutan
  • Paraguay
  • Senegal
  • Zambia

Level Unknown: COVID-19 Unknown

  • Kazakhstan
